Chellie Pingree is the Democratic candidate for Congresswoman of the 1st district of Maine running against the Republican candidate Charlie Summers. Chellie is for restoring our economic health by investing in education and infrastructure. She knows that we should end the huge financial drain of the Iraq war. She wants to hold Wall Street executives responsible for the huge financial mess created by their greed and they should not receive huge retirement benefits. Those who have lost and are losing their homes should have an opportunity to negotiate their terms down so they can afford to keep their homes. Taxpayers should be paid back for their forced bailout tax payments from excess corporate profits. Individuals found guilty of fraud should go to jail. Better regulation is required to prevent these greed-caused catastrophes from happening. The Bush Administration's crazy financial deregulations and other bad policies are responsible for the financial mess. She is for increased green energy development to largely replace oil/gas purchases. Better education is the #1 tool to create a better economy. She is for ending discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity and for making marriage available for everyone.
