Tom Allen is a Democrat trying to replace the Republican U.S. Senator Susan Collins of Maine who supports all of Bush's policies for war and economic doom. Allen wants a new and workable energy plan, a deadline for withdrawal from Iraq, health coverage for every American, energy independence, an economy to benefit all not just the super rich, good jobs, an end to the Iraq war which he voted against in 2003, middle class tax cuts not tax cuts for the very wealthy, affordable health care, affordable college tuition, a decent retirement, successfully addressing climate change and other environmental hazards, choice for women, ending warrentless domestic wiretapping, his own platform for universal health care which would help small businesses cover employees with the same coverage available to Members of Congress and lower cost prescription drugs. He is endorsed by Planned Parenthood, SEIU local 1989 (Maine Education Association/National Education Association, Maine Council of Senior Citizens, Maine Building and Construction Trades Council, League of Young Voters, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Students for a new American Politics, United Steelworkers, Equality Maine, Portsmouth Naval Shipyards Metal Trades Council and many others.
