Jeanne Shaheen is the Democratic candidate to replace the current U.S. Republican Senator for New Hampshire. She was previously the only woman to be elected Governor of New Hampshire. She is committed to strengthening middle class families and small businesses. She wants to make college more affordable. She wants to have health care affordable for all. She brought Democrats and Republicans together to pass the first Clean Power Act which reduces power plant emmissions in New Hampshire. She led trade missions to other countries and monitored foreign elections. She was Director of Harvard University's Institute of Politics at the Kennedy School of Government. She wants to make the economy work for middle class families and not just for the very richest. She knows that we need an energy policy that will make the USA independent of foreign oil and will work to reduce global warming. She knows that the Iraq war has tarnished America's world image and made us less safe so that we need to end it and rebuild our reputation. She knows we need to create the jobs of tomorrow by investing in clean energy and other new technologies. She knows we need less gluttony for the rich and a better way of life for the poor and middle classes so we can make a decent future instead of a deadly one.
