Kay Hagan is the Democratic candidate to replace the current US Republican Senator for North Carolina, Elizabeth Dole. Hagan is currently a State Senator in North Carolina who has an excellent progressive record. She wants to be a voice for working North Carolina families that can get our country back on track to solve our problems. Kay has balanced the North Carolina budget and is working to open the budgeting process to the public. In D.C. she will be a fighter against wasteful federal projects and will find ways to reduce the national debt. She wants to cut working class taxes and increase taxes for extremely wealthy corporations and billionaires. She wants to increase good jobs in North Carolina. She wants every student to have the tools needed to learn and succeed. She knows that alternative energy sources need to be increased so that we will use less very expensive and polluting oil sources. She was part of the effort to make North Carolina a leader in requiring power companies to use renewable energy sources. She knows that health care needs to be more accessable and less expensive and she will keep fighting to lower costs. She supports a responsible withdrawal from Iraq so that we can concentrate on defeating our real enemies instead of pretending that Iraqis are our enemies.
