Bill Ritter is the Democratic Governor of Colorado. The Ritter administration launched a New Energy Economy that blends efficiency, conservation, sustainable energy sources and traditional oil, natural gas and coal. Ritter favors a national renewable electricity standard. He earned a personal visit from Swedish Prime Minister Fredrick Reinfeldt who is one of Europe's leading proponents of nenewable energy as a means of addressing climate change. Ritter crafted Colorado's first Climate Action Plan for greening state government. He overhauled Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to further public health, environmental and wild life concerns. He signed Consumer-protection bills to prevent mortgage fraud and home forclosures. Other states have replicated these ideas. He helped create Colorado's P-20 Education Coordination Council which greatly improves education. He worked with the Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Care Reform. He improved government business with employee partnering, efficiency review, consolidating computer functions, strengthening Homeland Security, improving leadership performance and making government more trasparent and fiscally responsible. He helped improve state funds for Older Coloradans. He established a Preffered Drug List for appropriate and less expensive prescriptions.
