Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo and Jose Ramos-Horta won the
Nobel Peace Prize in 1996 for their efforts to bring peace and
justice to East Timor. Jose Ramos-Horta is speaking this week (Nov.
12) at the University of Oregon in Eugene. The Indonesian
goverment forcibly annexed East Timor in 1975 and has
systematically oppressed East Timor's people since then. One
third of East Timor's people have died since 1975. For their
tireless efforts on behalf of East Timor and other oppressed
people, Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo and Jose Ramos-Horta have been
