Chris Gregoire is the Democratic Governor of the state of Washington. She wants to expand opportunities for family wage jobs while protecting a healthy environment. This requires world-class educational opportunities for all. She created the Washington Learns study to collect ideas of how to improve education. She helped create the Deparment of Early Learning to improve the quality of early learning. She wants education at all levels to be excellent and available. She wants everyone to have access to high-quality affordable health care. She wants to reduce dependence on foreign oil by creating a variety of energy supplies and by energy conservation and by less polluting energy sources. She helped improve the distibution of water sources. She helped advance cleanup of the Hanford reactor area. She helped reduce greenhouse gas emmissions from our car culture. She helped improve water quality and fish habitat. She helped make state government more accountable to all of the people of the state and more accessable. She helped create performance audits to insure that state government is efficient at its tasks. She held town hall meetings to get citizen input. She helped make the transportation system more efficient and safer and more reliable and better maintained and better retrofitted.
