Kathleen Sebelius is the Democratic Governor of the State of Kansas. She knows that the health care system is broken and needs comprehensive health care reform. The Kansas Health Policy Authority has an agressive plan to repair the system by increasing tobacco taxes, reducing the number of smokers and increasing the number of children with health insurance. She created the Kansas Innovation Consortium to help Kansas stay competitive in the global markeplace. She supports the Kansas African American Affairs Commission and the Kansas Hispanic Latino American Affairs Commission. She was named one of the five best governors in the USA by TIME. She urges common sense actions to reduce energy bills. She established the Kansas Energy Council to formulate and coordinate a comprehensive state energy plan. The Kansas Corporation Commission offers practical Energy-Saving Tools. The Kansas Collaberative is formalizing collaberation between local and state government using Breakthrough Teams that solve problems, save money and network leaders. The Collaberative has saved over sixteen million $ since July 2005. She endorsed Barack Obama for President. She gave the Democratic response to Bush's State of the Union address. She created the Governor's Wind Working Group to take electrical advantage of windy Kansas. She is overseeing better interoperability of Kansas' emergency communications.
