John Sarbanes is the new Democratic Congressman for the 3rd district of Maryland. He thinks American troops deserve better pay, better health care, better education benefits and an end to the Iraq war. He thinks there should be a timetable to disengage the troops from Iraq and hand over complete control of Iraq to the Iraqi government which would then receive assistance for rebuilding the extensive war destruction from the United Nations and other international/national groups. These groups should hire only Iraqis to do the actual reconstruction. Above all, American bombing of Iraq must end. He believes that every child should have access to a first-rate public school system with increased federal resources. He believes that everyone who wants to go to college should be financially able to do so without high interest debt. He believes we need a national project to develop alternative energy which uses the best and brightest to research, develop and support technology transfer of innovative energy sources that will be cleaner and cheaper. He believes that Social Security should remain in the government to be always available and divorced from business sector downturns. He wants to reform taxes so that they are not fundamentally unfair and fiscally reckless with lower incomes taxed too much and higher incomes taxed too little.
