Ciro Rodriguez is the Democratic Congressman for the 23rd district of Texas. He supports efforts to develop water and environmental infrastructure along the border and elsewhere. He is working to improve consumer product safety especially in toys many of which have poisonous lead coatings. Many other products are unsafe and need to be fixed or banned. He is determined to help small businesses survive and grow and employ disadvantaged workers. The House approved the Rodriguez proposal to extend family medical leave act protections to families of wounded soldiers. He voted to pass middle class tax relief. He secured funding for improved hispanic health care in the United States with more public health research, better policies, better information dissemination and a National Resource Center for health problems of Hispanic children. He supports better water and environmental infrastructure along the border. He worked to alleviate NAFTA-related congestion of transport near the border. He voted to pass an expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program. He voted to remove most US troops from Iraq by April 1, 08. He voted for benchmarks and timetable for troop withdrawal from Iraq. He voted against the Bush troop escalation in Iraq. He voted to repeal tax cuts for oil companies. He voted to lower the interest rate on student loans. He voted to lower prescription drug prices. He voted to increase the minimum wage. He voted to implement 9/11 Commission recomendations.
