Donna Marie Christensen is the Democratic Congresswoman Delegate for the Virgin Islands. She favors realistic benchmarks for bringing an end to the war in Iraq and bringing the troops home by summer 2008 for she knows that the Virgin Islands sentiment is overwhelmingly against the Iraq war from the outset. She helped get the votes out for getting House passage of the exit bill which included agriculture disaster assistance, state childrens health insurance, rural school payments, better homeland security and hurricane assistance. She favors increased children's health insurance in the Virgin Islands. She opposed Bush budget cuts in funding to territories and minority health. She led House members in an effort to remove barriers to Medicaid. She co-sponsered Veterans Identity Protection Act. She received two National Health Awards. She introduced a Congressional Resolution expressing the sense of the Congress that the United States Fish and Wildlife Service should incorporate consideration of global warming and sea-level rise into the comprehensive plans for coastal wildlife refuges. She introduced another resolution to expand the eligibility of individuals to qualify for loan forgiveness for teachers in order to provide additional incentives for teachers to seek employment in economically depressed rural areas, Territories and Indian Reservations. For working energetically to improve American Governance, Congresswoman Donna Christensen has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
