Ed Perlmutter is the new Democratic Congressman for the 7th district of Colorado. He is for a quality education for everyone so educational opportunities must be available to everyone: poor, middle class and rich. He has a Green Office initiative which shows how to make congressional offices carbon neutral (his are). He shows how to become green, how to work green and how to promote green. He wants to make quality health care available to everyone which includes mental health, stem cell research, affordable insurance, medicare and medicaid - all achieved through science, doctors, education and funding. He is in favor of all aspects of envionmental improvement: increased recycling, increased bicycle use, renewable energy, open space, cutting global warming gases, less oil and gas usage, etc. He wants to increase homeland security through all practical and effective preventive means. He wants to improve the immigration system in humane and practical ways. He was against the Iraq war from the beginning and wants to remove American troops from Iraq by the spring of 2008. He believes that a politican solution should be achieved not a military one. He believes the troops need better civilian policies and better civilian leadership. He believes social security should be secure from the hazzards of private investment schemes. He believes medical care for veterans should be complete and timely.
