Patrick Murphy is the new Democratic Congressman for the 8th district of Pennsylvania. He wants basic pay increases for the Armed Forces. He wants cost accountability for Iraq war expenses. He wants better environmental protection. He wants to help smokers quit smoking. He supports small businesses. He wants cleaner, better, more renewable energy sources like wind, solar, geothermal and bioenergy which will also create new jobs. He wants healthier farms, foods and fuels. He is fighting to end global warming by ending excess greenhouse gas emissions. He wants to make our water cleaner, safer and more reliable for now and for future generations. He wants to create healthier streams and rivers with more fish. He wants to make cleaner, healthier cities with cleaner, less polluting cars and trucks and buses. He wants to protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He wants to increase scientific research to increase protection of the natural environment. He opposed the Bush troop escalation in Iraq and is for removing troops from Iraq using benchmarks and a timetable and a political/diplomatic solution. He helped raise the minimum wage and is fighting for workers' rights to organize unions. He is working for fair trade to replace the unfair "free trade" that is reducing the USA workforce.
