Zoe Lofgren is the Democratic Congresswoman for the 16th district of California. She helped create the House Democrats' Innovation Agenda so she is for a better-educated, more skilled workforce in science, math, engineering and information to increase research and development so we will have affordable broadband for all Americans, energy independence, security, sustainable progress, good job creation and pay-as-you-go budgeting. She is for reduced greenhouse gase emissions to protect planetary health. She believes we must have free, open and non-discriminatory internet with no special interests in control of "the pipes" and a national solution to end junk e-mail and spyware. She works to improve the conditions of refugees. She voted to impliment the 9/11 Commission Recommendations. She wants to protect the constitutional rights of all US citizens. She wants to have proper oversight of US Intelligence activities. She is a member of the House Ocean Caucus which is committed to protecting our oceans from disgraceful overfishing and fouling of oceans by offshore drilling and other high pollution sources. She knows we need clean water, clean air and protection from global warming gases. She knows that better education for all at all levels is needed to make our economy and our workforce more skilled and prosperous. Student cost must be reduced in higher education to make this happen and teacher salaries must be raised. Zoe voted for the 2007 increase in financial aid.
