Phil Hare is the new Democratic Congressman for the 17th district of Illinois. He is for organized labor, phase out of our Iraq troops, dialog between Iraqis and their neighbors, enhanced Veteran's benefits and minimum wage increases indexed to inflation. He serves on the House Education and Labor and House Veteran's Affairs committees and is assistant whip under the House Majority Whip. He wants more affordable health care and more use of bio-fuels. He is for weaning ourselves off of Middle East oil and keeping local farms running. He thinks that reliable and affordable health care shoud be available to everyone and that Social Security should always have guaranteed benefits without risky privitization. Affordable health care should be a right that everyone enjoys. He believes we should have fair trade instead of "free" trade so that everyone globally has International Workers Rights. He believes we should expand small businesses to increase jobs. He is in favor of environmentally-friendly housing that is Energy Star rated, which uses recycled and renewable materials, a geothermal heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system that uses no outside energy and energy saving windows and appliances. He says the North American Free Trade agreement should be modified or abolished.
