Jane Harman is the Democratic Congresswoman for the 36th district of California. She belongs to the Committee on Homeland Security and is Chair of its Intelligence Subcommittee. She also belongs to the Energy and Commerce Committee, the Blue Dog Coalition and the New Democrat Coalition. She favors: more energy efficiency, independence and conservation, closing Guantanamo prison, ending genocide in Darfur, a National Suffragists Day, fair treatment and safe workplace for all workers, opposed Bush escalation in Iraq, for Cesar Chavez holiday, Iraq cost accountability, ending discrimination against women, a Japanese apology for sexual slavery in WW II, exposing all earmarks, clean beaches, "An Inconveniant Truth", Financial Literacy Month, improving educational opportunities for all women and girls, resignation of Alberto Gonzales, constitutional ammendment for equal rights male/female, balanced budget ammendment, increase minimum wage, human embryonic stem cell research, lower Medicare drug prices, lower cost college tuition, freedom from domestic spying, more research and help for mental problems, preserve all of Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, recognition of all Native American Tribes, strengthening prohibitions against animal fighting, reform of National Criminal Background Check System, allow and encourage lower prescription drug prices, prohibiting military and reconstruction fraud and price gauging and many other reforms of Federal laws.
