Brad Ellsworth is the new Democratic Congressman for the 8th district of Indianna. He believes tax breaks given to big oil companies should be withdrawn and put into biofuel research and other alternatives. He believes in better gas mileage vehicles being designed and built. He thinks the 9/11 Commission recommendations should all be adopted. He opposes Social Security privitization and the worst aspects of the Medicare drug law. He wants to bring the Iraq war to a successful resolution so our troops can be withdrawn. He wants to protect small business and grow family farms. He wants to improve the education of children by providing every child with access to a quality education. He wants to make college more affordable for all Americans. He wants to balance the national budget and reduce waste, fraud and abuse in Iraq and elsewhere. He disagreed with the Bush "surge" (escalation) in Iraq. He voted to repeal tax cuts to oil companies and have them pay a fee to remove oil from the Gulf of Mexico and would repeal a tax break for oil companies. He also voted for tax breaks for renewable energy sources. He voted to lower the interest rate on student loans and to reduce prescription drug costs.
