Susan Davis is the Democratic Congresswoman for the 53rd district of California. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the Educational and Labor Committee and the House Administration Committee. She worked to restore free and reduced-cost school meals programs for military families, Introduced legislation to encourage highly qualified teachers to teach in low-income schools, supported cutting in half interest rates on student loans, introduced legislation to allow universal federal vote-by-mail, worked for better election practices, opposed Arctic National Wildlife Refuge oil drilling, worked to increase fuel economy standards, secured funding for San Diego environment improvements, Introduced and sponsored legislation for better health care for veterans and for all of us. She called on China to pressure Sudan to stop genocide. She supports lobby reform. She voted against the original authorization to use military force against Iraq because she felt that war would isolate us from most of our allies, reinforce the cause of most of our enemies and cause lengthy occupation, all of which has come true. She opposed the current Bush troup surge which, again, has only made things worse in Iraq. She is helping the House provide oversight over operations in Iraq.
