Kathy Castor is the new Congresswoman for the 11th district of Florida. She serves on the House Rules Committee, House Armed Services Committee and the steering and policy committee. She was an attorney and a Hillsborough County Commissioner. She has a great record on the environment, health care, education, ethics, transportation and city growth management. She knows that wetlands, forests and other living parts of the environment need to be protected from greed and carelessness. She knows that college needs to be made more affordable for working class families. She knows that energy independence will make America safer and less prone to start wars. She knows that ethics in the Congress still needs a lot of improvement. She knows that health care for veterans and others still needs a lot of improvement. She knows that the Bush escalation in Iraq will cause more deaths, injuries and harm to Iraq and the USA and other nations instead of less. She knows that the Bush refusal to reduce Medicare prescription prices must be overturned. She knows that single moms must be paid a living wage to properly support their families. She knows that the 9/11 Commission report must be fully implemented. She has voted for a timeline for withdrawal of USA forces from Iraq, less corruption in government contracts, disaster relief and numerous other improvements.
