FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 10-18-97

Jody Williams, Coordinator of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines and the ICBL have won the Nobel Peace Prize. Jody has proved how powerful a human being can be when her efforts are focused on a specific and wonderful goal. The land mine issue is the litmus test of whether the chief executive of a nation is a man of peace or a man of war. President Yeltsin of Russia favors the treaty and is a man of peace UPDATE: YELTSIN DIDN'T SIGN THE TREATY - HYPOCRITE; YELTSIN & CLINTON ARE A MATCHED SET OF WARMONGERS). President Clinton of the US opposes the treaty and is a man of war. We cannot have our President putting our nation at the top of the list of nasty nations not signing the treaty. President Clinton speaks about a grand transition to the 21st century but he doesn't seem to have a clue about what the 21st century really needs. It certainly doesn't need land mines and it doesn't need war. President Clinton thinks that the men, women and children of the 21st century deserve to have their legs blown off. What a piece of work he has become. But it shouldn't be that hard for Bill to change his mind and do the right thing; all he needs to do is stop listening to the generals and to his corporate friends and start listening to his heart: stop thinking prey and profit; start thinking pray and people and life. If President Clinton does not reverse course and the US does not sign the treaty in December, he will go down in history as one of the most evil men of all time.

For being in the forefront of making the land mine ban a reality and for winning 1/2 of the Nobel Peace Prize, Jody Williams has been named FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK. Thank you, Jody Williams for being on the cutting edge of what the future needs. Click one of the links below for more information.
