The future can only be saved if the current exponential
expansion of science and technology continues. The American
Association for the Advancement of Science knows this very well
and it also knows that science and technology must be used for
the good of all of humanity and for the good of the environment,
not primarily for the good of corporate polluters. So the AAAS
has been named FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK. A special thanks is due
to 96/97 AAAS President and 97/98 AAAS Board of Directors Chair,
Jane Lubchenco, whose knowledge of ecology and what the future
