As we approach the next century and the next millenium,
perhaps the greatest threat to the future of human civilization
and the Earth's biosphere is human overpopulation. We need
widespread acceptance of all creative, effective and humane
methods of population control. The most dogmatic and influential
religious organizations need to climb out of their spiritual ruts
and embrace a philosophy holding that the highest spiritual value
is learning, teaching and acting to save the future of life on
earth by embracing those techniques that do, in fact, keep human
populations at optimum size for present and future environmental
conditions. If we must expand human numbers, we need to first
make sure that the size and quality of the human environment will
sustain more people in dignity and security. The optimum method
of birth control is not the brutal and chaotic collapse of human
civilization caused by brainwashed addictions to obsolete thought
patterns. Let us not destroy the earth as Easter Island and other
civilizations were destroyed. PLANNED PARENTHOOD has done more
