SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Science is the primary and most successful mechanism human beings have to arrive at the truth and to increase real knowledge. Technology is the use of scientific knowledge and engineering to make better products and techniques which (hopefully) advance human and environmental progress. The core of science is the scientific method which is an oscillation between ideas (both good and bad) and experimental verification. A new advance in scientific theory or technique must be verified by its discoverer and many others before it can be widely assumed by scientists and others to be correct. Only when a new "truth" survives the fire of many skeptics can it become a real truth. To be (true) or not to be, that is the scientific question. Both scientists and nonscientists must be vigilant to keep science and technology from being perverted by corporate/governmental polluters of environments and war-promoting killers of peoples.

Science and Technology move forward through a combination of painstaking attention to data collection/experimental detail and flashes of inspired genius. Achieving breakthroughs and other advances requires both.
