Guns in the hands of gun toters cause gun violence. Gun violence is caused by gun totalitarians who have discarded the usual means of deciding who controls what or whom by picking up a gun and threatening or shooting their "enemies". Gun-toting criminals, gun-toting cops, gun-toting soldiers and gun-toting families who live by the sword are choosing to die by the sword (sometimes). A truly decent and truly modern society would put this Traditional Gun Violence Syndrome behind it by creating a society so moral, so just and so untraumatized that death by gun violence would be so rare that it wouldn't be a major concern.
