Tips on Meeting, Writing, or Phoning your Legislator/s
Know what you want to say beforehand.
Be brief and to the point (cover one subject).
Use facts to support your position. Know bill numbers and popular names for them.
Be courteous and business-like.
You may pay his/her salary and that of his/her aides, however, show him/her the same respect you expect.
If making an appointment to visit a local, state or federal official's office, confirm it beforehand.
Visit the office with only 2 or 3 people (except on special occasions).
Tell the legislator your position on an issue and ask him/her how they will vote.
