There has been rioting in the streets of Cincinnati for the last several days. Apparently, they are upset about some unarmed person being shot by a police officer. This leads me to ask, "What sort of hoodlums are we dealing with if they can't even try a civilized protest?" I hear a lot of talk from black people about not wanting to be stereotyped. I wonder then why so many of them continue to follow that stereotype. It continues to look like it is true. Sure, someone was killed who shouldn't have been, but I am not that sure that race that important of a factor as these people would have you believe. I know that some people are upset, but I don't even think that some of the rioters even knew the victim. They just found an excuse to go out on the streets, vandalize, and behave like an idiot. Even more people are getting hurt, albeit not fatally. Let's face there are far more effective ways of getting your point across than running around and smashing stuff.
The police are trying a curfew to get the people off the streets, and I hope that works. I don't know why they waited this long to implement it. These people need to be stopped and they need to go back home and think about what they have done. They have tarnished their community's name and made a fool of themselves. I do not see how rioting can give the impression that police are the cruel tormentors. The people who destroy innocent people property look like the bad guys to me.
I say go home, and plan a peaceful protest. For all I know, this could have started as a peaceful protest, but a few bad eggs ruined it for everyone. Before you go out and take part in a protest, riot, or terrorist activity, think about how it will make your cause look to the average person. I know wonder if that unarmed person was a hoodlum like the people that came out to support him.
