Budget Cuts

Wow!  I have so much to add yet.  I just want to say that I know that some of the links don't work right now but I'm working on it!
Also, More articles for this newsletter pictures of jumps and much much more! -Danielle

When schools need to cut back and save some money, nearly the first thing to take a back seat is cheerleading.  We can't let that happen!  So what can you do to help?  Well, if its in your own school, fight back!  Talk to your coaches about it, make petitions, signs etc...
You could have a meeting with the principal or vice principal and complain that cheerleading deserves just as much money and respect as the other sports do.  If you had any good wins at competitions you can point that out, and point out how many wins the basketball team has had (if it is few).  You could say that cheerleading is a sport and it takes just as much time and dedication as the other sports.  You can really make a difference in what happensso get out there !  Get involved!  And get other people involved!! :-)

Embarassing Cheer

Ok, admit it.  Something embarassing has happened to you while cheering whether its at tryouts or wherever.  I know first-hand about this!   Let me share what happened to me:

I had been practicing as much as possible for tryouts, and finally D-day came!  I was so nervous I was shaking!  Out of 35 people I was number 13.......yes 13!!!! I wasn't scared though.   Even though 13 is supposed to be an unlucky number, I believed it was my lucky number.  Well, I got in there and I did my cheer jumps and tumble (stunt, dance, etc.... came later)  and I was shaking really bad but I didn't let it show during my performance, so overall I did a great job.  So then she told me I could go and I went to open the door and it wouldn't open!  I turned around and looked at Mr. Mac who had come to help me from the other side of the room and I was just pulling on the door as hard as I could.  The seniors were really having a ball laughing as hard as they possibly could, and when Mr. Mac came to help me, I realized that I had been pulling and you were supposed to push.  I felt really dumb and once I got out I was just mortified.  Oh well, I made the team so I guess she didn't count that as part of my performacnce!

That isn't that bad, and I am positive that some of you have way worse stories so...... spill them!!
Email me and I will share your  horror stories in this newsletter  (not on the front page though, I don't have enough room.
