In February 2002 I visited Melbourne on business. Sadly I couldn't take my LX200 and CCD with me (!), so a pair of bins and a digital land camera had to suffice. It was amazing to see Orion 'upside down' and the moon inverted and the stars moving 'backwards' across the sky (and the sun of course !). Seeing the Southern Cross and the Eta Carinae Nebula was amazing and of course Alpha Centauri, our nearest star.
With the land camera available, a Kodak DC260, I took a series of 16 second (maximum exposure) exposures and summed a few of these together. Here are some of the results:-
