Don Shelton's Submarine
Homepage The guy who sent me the first pictures I used here back in 1997. Don's got a great website called "Bottom Guns and Targets." Don is a former US submariner, too.
Ron Martini's Submarine World Network (formerly Ron Martini's Navy Submarine Base) This is the "bible" of submarine links. It probably includes over 1,000 links to other submarine sites now. Ron is another former "bubblehead" who has provides a great service to submariners, both here in the US and abroad! As a collector of insignia, I visit his "COMSUBFOREIGN" and other sections often.
Don Palen's On-Line ICBM Catalogue Buy dolphins, Soviet badges and other great stuff! Don is a retired skimmer, but we still love him! ;-) He is not the typical big militaria dealer- his prices are fair and he's honest. He did not pay me to say that, either! I visit Don and Boris the Bear often; so should you!
Contact CDR Ronen David Koehler, IN.Ronen is a former skipper of one of Israel's 3 GAL-class submarines who provided an update on how Israeli insignia are awarded and has kept me in touch with other submariners who have provided information I have passed on via my website and directly to other collectors. He is still on active duty and is a full-time graduate student working on an advanced degree in psychology. I also include a link to Ronen's personal web page. Click here to go there! Lastly, Ronen is the administrative webmaster for the Israeli Dolphin Association of submariners. Uri Dotan maintains their website: Check it out with a click here.
Shalom, Ronen!
Alexei Merezhko's Russian and Soviet Militaria website. Lots of stuff for sale. He provided me photos and information on Russian insignia early in my website days. He is often selling items on Ebay, too. If you deal with him, say hi from me!
Sharkhunters submarine history group. A link to the Sharkhunters new website. Visit Harry Cooper's Sharkhunters and see where their next submarine history tour is going, find out what a KTB is and maybe even become a member!
Third World Submarine article This is a pretty good summary of Third World submarines, written a few years ago. I have read most of the source information and know many of the authors. I have argued with a few of them, too, for overstating their case and "massaging" information to build a threat that was not real. But that was when I worked in Naval Intelligence, and after a two-year tour there from 1990-1992 I still firmly believe Naval Intelligence is an oxymoron!!!!!!
