Your next car may no longer need a key to start it. The system requires you to carry a card in your pocket. When you touch the door handle the car communicates with the card through your finger. If the codes in the car and card match the doors will unlock. The same thing will happen when you press a button to start the car.

Another NASA innovation has found a place on Earth. Nuts that NASA developed for quick assembly requires you to only push and not twist. M&A Screw and Machine Company plans to use the nuts for mining and oil drilling.

France Telcom has completed the world's longest undersea cable. The cable runs from England to Japan and Australia through the Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean. The cable consists of two fiber pairs that multiplex 8 wavelengths, that provides 40-gigabit-per-second transmission rate.
