Handwriting recognition on computers has become quite good, so why don’t we see more computer screens that we can write on? Most computer screens can’t stand up to that abuse. Logic Instruments of France has come up with a computer screen that meets military standards for shock and can hold up at 112° F at 95% humidity.

The latest in low cost rocketry may not only use rockets. The rocket will first be lifted to around 100,000 ft by helium balloons and then fire its engines.

Even though the South Pole was the last place to be settled on Earth it may be the first to be settled on the moon. The South Pole of the moon shows evidence of ice and is also in constant sunlight. The location will often provide an interference free location for telescopes.

The Deep Space 1 satellite has set a record for longest flight by an ion driven engine. The satellite will rendezvous with the comet Borrelly in September of 2001.

Boeing has sent its new Delta 3 rocket into orbit. The rocked had two failures of this rocket since it was first launched in 1998. The rocket can place an 8400-pound payload into geostationary orbit.
