Detail of the business end (output head).  Brass screws tap directly into the Delrin headstock for adjustment of the mirror holder, which is seated on an o-ring.  The o-ring itself is seated on a machined groove in the headstock.  Just visible thru the amber ZnSe lens is a brass electode, itself tapped for external power connection.

Heavy aluminum channel stock and oak plank supports the laser.

With the focusing lens (here mounted in a holder held in a vise between the output head and the target) the laser melts the surface of this basalt rock block.
