Stuff you can't fly without

Here's some equipment you just can't fly without.

6-channel helicopter radio

A computer based helicopter radio will simplify your setup, and also allow you to keep a variety of setups on one transmitter.

Below is my field box.  It has a 12V sealed lead acid battery,   12V Sullivan starter,  a power panel, electric fuel pump and field charger.

My field box
field chargerQuick field charger.  You can charge all your radio equipment from here within an hour and not worry about damaging your batteries.
12 volt starter battery12 volt battery for starting your helicopter and running a power panel.
power panelA power panel allows you to vary the starting heat of your glow plug.  It also simplifies the layout for your pit gear.
electric fuel pumpFast efficient fuelling.
glow plugThis is a glow plug.  You heat this up to start the engine.  Afterwards the heat from engine compression will keep the filament in the glow plug hot enough to burn the fuel in the combustion chamber.
starterThis is what you use to start the heli engine with.  It might not be a bad idea to get a starter extension also.   A starter extension will allow you to start your engine easier and with less force.
putting tracking tape on blade tipEach time you put new blades on your helicopter you will need to check to see if the blades are tracking properly (spinning in the same plane).  A bright colored tracking tape will allow you to do this easily.
