A great rally was planned including registration party at American RV and Marine which is located across from Wet And Wild Water Park. That building is immense at American RV. They brought in plenty of tables and chairs for everyone. Then they added drinks and food and there was still room for the kids to play. Of course having those RVs handy to drool over and the cute giveaway electric scooters that you get with purchase. Enough of that. The food was excellent and I discovered low carb beer. You got to drink it for it is good for you. (LOL)
My sponsor this year was too busy this year as they were the ONEOK Propane. Even though they didn't come out I was able to secure a volunteer crew. My crew for the last three years were busy this weekend. I found some really nice folks who discovered early on Saturday that wind does preclude our flight. Syaam met a young lady from Albuquerque, Cindy Ashworth, and they had a ball swimming and playing. They insisted they go to the crew party at the Zone where they rode bumper boats with water cannon, go carts, bungee assisted trampoline, rock wall and mini golf. And then there was FOOD. Plenty of Pizza and other stuff.Sunday we saw a break in the action and we flew for 45 minutes and two hops. We got 5 new people up in the air and my granddaughter Syaam.
Following our flight we had a brief time to swim in the Holiday Inn Airport Swimming pool. We chose the indoor pool as it was heated. Sunday was also Syaam's Girl Scout Troops day at Western Playland. Each year her troop sells more cookies than any other troop and they spend their cookie money on activities throughout the year. This year 15 girls got to go to Western Playland. It is hard to schedule an event where all the girls are able to go on the same day. I didn't get many pictures this year as I got more interested in where I was going. Maybe my crew will find this page and send me some of their pictures. On Monday we went to Mexico to fly back. Well the wind was flyable but it was going south deeper into the interior. I didn't count the balloons but I remember seeing about seven in the air. Our flight was interesting. We were told that there was plenty of landing spots in our direction as it was mostly agricultural. Every place I chose to land was surrounded by fence and barbed wire. Of course I tracked power lines and numerous farm animals. I finally landed on a new four lane highway under construction. Before I inflated on the field Paula, the Mexico coordinator, asked me to take Ernesto with so he could get pictures for the local newspaper. We were glad to have him.
Following the Mexico flight we went back to the Holiday Inn and did our ceremony, then we packed up and checked out so we could get to the Wet and Wild Water Park for the picnic. Following the pizza we met up with Cindy and her parents Robyn and Jeff and we went on the rides. This was probably the longest we have ever stayed at the park following the picnic. We got home at 6:00 pm.
