2/26/2001 Message of the Day

Precipitation:
Howdy! Lots of snow is expected to begin falling
in parts of Colorado and Kansas by this evening
and through tomorrow. Southern California and
portions of Nevada and Arizona will likely see
rain, with snow in the mountains. Some snow may
occur around the Great Lakes and Northeast, as well.
Expect a broad area of precipitation from Arizona
across the Plains to Illinois on Tuesday.
Temperature:
The Northern Plains will see high temperatures
today below 20 deg. F, however as the fog
dissipates in Florida their high temperatures
will approach 80 deg. F. Notice how far south
the cold air is, out of Canada, when you see
any rain/snow lines develop near Kansas,
through tomorrow.
Challenge Questions:
Can you see any snowcover on the visible
satellite images today? (hints: 1. clouds move,
2. snow doesn't accumulate on lakes/rivers)
