2/23/2001 Message of the Day

Precipitation:
Howdy! This will be another active day for
precipitation. If you live in the Plains, you
will likely see rain and/or snow today. States
that border the Mississippi River will experience
rain and/or snow late tonight and through Saturday.
There will be other areas of rain and snow, but
Oklahoma and Texas will likely see the most
precipitation today.
Also, the forecast for the southern California coast
actually mentions that storms with small hail are
likely, so you may want to check out California
for strong storms, as well.
Temperature:
Temperatures will continue to change a lot thanks
to cold Canadian air flowing south of the Great
Lakes and warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico
keeping temperatures in the 70's along the Gulf
Coast.
Challenge Questions:
Are there any fronts? Where are the storms today
in relation to any fronts? What are the
temperature, wind speed and wind direction on either
side of any fronts?
