This message is in response to La' Rondine's question about where I chased a storm with 20 tornadoes on 5/3/99. La' Rondine- Howdy again! First, I looked at the map of tornado paths at: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/storms/19990503/ and realized that I was wrong- the Minco, OK storm that we chased west of Oklahoma City (Storm B on the map) had only 20 tornadoes, not 21. After watching the F5 tornado form near Amber, OK (northeast of Chickasha) we traveled north and west to catch up to another thunderstorm that was producing tornadoes. We were not always within sight of the tornadoes, so we do not know exactly how many different ones we saw, but I am pretty sure we saw at least 5 out of the 20. The tornadoes we saw were mostly in Caddo County, just north of Andarko, OK and up to the northeast to Minco, OK, which is west of Oklahoma City. They were "small" compared to the F4 tornado the storm produced north of Guthrie, later on that evening. We stopped chasing it at sunset, when the storm was passing by Minco. Please let us know if you have any other questions... CD 2/26/2001
