Strategy- Use Prefixes!!!

The names of all binary compounds end in -ide.
Use prefixes on both elements- unless the subscript on the first element is 1. In that case, onit the mono- prefix on the first element.
Writing formulas is the reverse of this process. The prefix tells the subscript of the element ( not the charge or oxidation number)
