Description
The F-5 Freedom Fighter is a light and easily maintainable supersonic fighter. The F-5 was created as an export fighter suitable for allies of the United States that couldn't afford more expensive fighters.

History and Features
Northrup began development of the F-5 in the mid 1950's. It first flew as the N-156F in July 1959, and was soon ordered into production as the Freedom Fighter in both single and two seat variants. The first of these flew in October 1963, and thought a few were bought by the US Air Force for limited use in Vietnam, most went to American allies.
