I Like To Use My Hands and My Mind

These are a bunch of my text books I have accumulated over the last few years. I still find myself refering back to my earliest ones sometimes.

The pencil is an amazing invention. We can write words with it, draw pictures, sketch plans, and even write out musical notes with it. Alone the pencil is a powerful tool but when it is teamed up with accessories such as triangles, compasses, stencils, colors, etc. it becomes one of the most universal tools man has ever created.

This is what I consider to be the most dangerous tool on the planet. It can handle so much data at such an incredible speed without error that that society has become so dependent on it that we don't know what to do when our computers don't work. It's a scary thought. Right now I try to use this tool to my fullest advantage, while being aware at the same time of my dependence on it.

I love making things in my small workshop at my parents' home. It's amazing what we can accomplish using tools.

Here are some common materials that we use along with tools. Lubricants and adhesives are simple examples. Here are two sayings I will always remember. #1 Hot glue is every interior decorators best friend. #2 Duct tape keeps the world together and WD40 keeps it going around.

Using tools is fun. But just as they are useful they can also be harmful. It is always important to take the necessary safety precautions if you want to be able to continue making things.

Here are a few of the tools I use in the garden. One of my passions is gardening, plantlife always has marvled me and always will. There is nothing like seeing the blooms on your plants in the spring. They are the result of your caring labours. Working with plants is also a sanctuary away from the complications and stresses of the world. Plants are nice to talk to, no matter what you say, they never talk back.

I love to scuba dive, but some days I spend up to one full hour on the phone and watching television. If I live to be 70 years old, the time I spend using or being entertained by these communication devices would add up to be 3.5 years. Can you imagine that. I would much rather have the inscription "Dan spent a total of 3.5 years at a depth of 60 feet" on my tombstone.

And finally some nice music, a little candle light and some massage oil...what better way can you think of to make use of your hands?

This is the best drink in the world, no matter what anybody tells you. It even makes a nice Caesar!
