Cross Wind Takeoff

 

1.

Wing Flaps – Either 0o or 10o.

2.

Carburetor Heat – COLD.

3.

Ailerons – FULLY DEFLECTED INTO THE WIND.

4.

Throttle – FULL OPEN (Apply Full Power).

5.

As aircraft speed on the runway increases – RETURN AILERONS TO NEUTAL OR NEAR NEUTRAL CONDITION.

6.

Elevator Control – LIFT THE NOSE WHEEL AT 50-55 KNOTS.

7.

After the aircraft leaves the ground, crab into the wind so that you fly over the extended centerline of the runway.

8.

Retract flaps to 0o if they are not already in this position.

9.

Climb Speed – 75-80 knots

You really need to respect cross winds.  Be very careful not to exceed the limits of your abilities!  Follow your instructor’s guidance.
