Places to go and see

The Ames Free Library
This is the Ames Free Library located in North Easton.  I was an employee for the library for about two years.  This building was contructed in 1885 by the famous architect H.H. Richardson.  The library graces a list of special places considered a National Historic Landmark.  Its butternut wood interior and its curious design make it a unique library to visit.  So I guess you could say Easton's Public Library is not just any old place to read a book.  In fact, visitors from all over the United States and the world travel to admire the architecture of this impressive structure.   Check out the homepage of the Friends of the Library for more information on how this institution is being preserved.

Langwater Pond

This is the Ames Estate at Langwater Pond located on Main Street in North Easton.  This is the view looking north on Main Street during the autumn.  Obviously, it is the perfect setting for leaf peepers during the fall foliage season!

North Easton Railroad Station
This is the present location of the Easton Historical Society.  Built in Richardson style, the railroad station saw countless numbers of passengers from the late nineteenth century all the way until the station closed in the 1950s.  Travelers would stop at the Easton train depot on their way to New York City, some 200 hundred miles to our southwest.  This station is full of historical charm and contains many of the original signs used during the turn of the century.  Visit the old ticket office and the station waiting areas where mandatory areas where set aside for  men and women!

Borderland State Park
I guess you could say I saved one of the best places for last.  This is a really cool place you should check out.  See the National Park Service's website for more detailed information on this old English estate which is now part of a very nice park situated in the north part of town.
