Sentences already ok should not be altered. For example, to delete the "very" from "He is very wise" would be incorrect. The original is ok, even if not preferred.

1) He asked, however, I did not answer.

2) It is, therefore, not required.

3) The reason why he asked is not clear.

4) The reason that I did not answer is moot.

5) I thought it was real important to answer his question.

6) He asked and I answered.

7) If he was asking me, I would not answer either.
