Simulation: Expansion of the cytokinetic complex
Phragmoplast scaffold
Cell plate.
- Following re-structuring of former spindle scaffold, the phragmoplast has appeared between daughter nuclei (not shown; would be above and below the complex).
- The phragmoplast is involved in directing and depositing packages of materials to form the new cell plate between daughter cells.
- The complex expands centrifugally from the center.
- The flexible cell plate contacts and fuses with the lateral parental walls, and will later mature to form the cross-wall between the new daughter cells.
