Hurricane Bill:
Maximum Winds-75mph....Minimum Pressure-987mbs....July 11th-14th
Track Coordinates
Tropical Storm Bill developed from an upper level low that converted itself to a warm
core low. The tropical disturbance that became Bill had been investigated the day before by a recon plane which
found that no development was taking place. The next day, July 11th Tropical Storm Bill formed well west of
Bermuda. Tropical Strom warnings were posted for Bermuda, but since Bill was moving to the NE at a fast
speed(17mph) it did not bother Bermuda. It continued to race towards the NE. On July 12th something happened,
during 6 hours Bill's pressure has dropped 20 millibars and the winds increased to 75 mph, a hurricane- even an
eye had formed! What makes this situation so amazing is that Bill was over sub 80 degree water temperatures, but
soon those cooler waters took there toll. Twelve hours later in the same day, Bill became extratropical as it
weakened to 70mph, a tropcial storm!
Bill was only a hurricane for 12 hours!
