Powder Puff

Notes: This pattern is written with American terminology.
Side B can be worked the same as side A if so desired,
I chose to do side A in star stitch because it is a "close" stitch for use with the powder (not gappy),
and I chose dc's for side B because it works up faster, also, I think it takes less yarn, so more puffs per ball of yarn.
Materials: 8 ply soft yarn (I used 'Cotton's Cousin'), 1 x 50 gram ball will make more than 1 powder puff.
3.5mm (E) crochet hook [I am an average to loose crotchetier, you may prefer a 4mm (G) hook].
fibrefill
Star Stitch: Single Crochet (sc), and 2 Double Crochet (dc) in same stitch.
Side A:
Ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 15 dc in ring, join in 3rd stitch of ch.
2nd round: Star stitch in same stitch as joining, then in every 2nd stitch around, join in top of first sc.
3rd round: Star stitch in same stitch as joining, then in each sc and every following dc, join in top of first sc.
4th, 5th & 6th round: Star stitch in same stitch as joining, then in each sc, join in top of first sc.
7th round: Star stitch in same stitch as joining, then in every 2nd stitch, join in top of first sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Side B:
Ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 15 dc in ring, join in 3rd stitch of ch.
2nd round: Ch 3, dc in same space, dc in next dc, * 2 = dc in next dc, dc in next dc, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd stitch of ch.
3rd round: Ch 3, dc in same space, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd stitch of ch.
4th round: As for round 2.
5th round: as for round 3.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Handle:
Ch 22
Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook, then in each ch across (20 dc).
Do not fasten off.
To Finish:
Note: Just a few extra = stitches will have to be picked up from side A here and there as you are joining, it is not exactly stitch for stitch, but don't worry, it won't be noticeable.
Place sides A and B together, right sides facing out.
Place handle across side B, right side facing out.
With side B and handle facing you, sc around the edge, joining the two sides for half way around the circle, catching in the
handle at it's ends. (See picture)
Place a wad of fibrefill in between the sides at = this point, just enough to fit the circle comfortably, then continue joining the two sides.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
