Snow set into patterns by the wind
And drifted into sculptures on the hills;
White petals as of blossoms from the sky
Forming into flowers on the sills.
Enclosed within dimensions far beyond,
The breadth to which the arms of man can reach,
Close enough to touch, too far to find
Where its whiteness melts into the sea.
What hand was laid to such a tapestry
That silences all sound a little while,
Sets us free from cold anxiety
And warms us with the wonder of a child?
...created to refresh and sooth the soul
by Winter, master artist of the snow.
