Fake Footprints

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking
along a pretend surface of the moon.
Across space from satellites flashed scenes
from his movie. For each scene,
he noticed two sets of footprints
in the fake moon dust; one belonged to him,
and the other to the camera man.

When the last scene of this movie
cut before him, he looked back
at the footprints in the fake moon sand.
He noticed that many times along the
path of this movie set there was only one
set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the most dramatic
and most exciting scenes in this movie.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the camera man about it.
"Camera man, you said that once you decided
to film me, you'd be with me
all the way. But I have noticed
that during the most important
scenes in this movie, there is only one
set of footprints. I don't understand
why when I needed you most you would
leave me for lunch break."

The camera man replied, "My precious, precious
actor, I follow you and I would never
leave you. During the scenes of drama
and excitement, when you see only one
set of footprints, it was then that I
filmed you from afar with my zoom lense."
