Angel

Occasionally we are graced with the presence of an earth bound angel. They are unable to stay with us for long, but while they do, they bring unprecedented joy and happiness to all they touch. While they are here, we bask in their goodness and marvel at their contribution to the world. When they leave we are left with the devastation that comes with losing such a wonderful being...but we must remember...the earth bound angels are not ours to keep. They are ours to enjoy, learn from, and behold until they return home.

 We'll Never Say Goodbye

I cannot see you with my eyes
Or hear you with my ears.
But thoughts of you are with me still
And often dry my tears.

You whisper in the rustling leaves
That linger in the fall;
And in the gentle evening breeze,
I'm sure I hear you call.

A part of you remains with me
That none can take away.
It gives me strength to carry on
At dawning of new day.

I think of happy times we shared
And then I softly sigh.
But this I know--we'll meet again
And never say goodbye.

 The Hand of God

The hand of God paints a sunset
From a palette of colors bright.
Yet, it's only seen for a short while
Then its glory fades into the night.

A comet streaks across the sky
God's hand once more in control.
We see it for only a moment
But its beauty touches our soul.

A baby is born into this world
A gift from God's hand, it's true.
And sometimes, like sunsets and comets
This precious life fades from our view.

But God ALWAYS sees His Creations
Each one is special to him.
He often sends angels among us
And we fail to recognize them.

Since God's timing is never like ours
We, in pain, cannot understand.
All we can do in our feeble way
Is hold tighter to His hand.

And give Him thanks for His Angels
No matter how SHORT their stay.
For like sunsets and beautiful comets,
They shine far too brightly to stay.

If Tears Could Build A Stairway

If tears could build a stairway
and memories were a lane,
I would walk right up to heaven
to bring you home again.
No farewell words were spoken,
no time to say goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it
and only God knows why.
My heart still aches in sadness
and secret tears still flow,
What it meant to lose you
no one will ever know!

 Mother
I touch your tears
Invisible fingers,
soothing your skin
I know you think
of me so often
In the day
and in the night.
Going into an empty room
Knowing I will never be there
But I am in your heart
and in your soul.
I shall always be,
For you gave
so unselfishly.

 You created
such a world for me
A world of laughter,
of love, of sadness,
of sorrow;
Every emotion
people come to know
You shared with me.

 And even though
I may never
Feel your arms around me,
I feel your heart beating,
Like a lullaby,
singing me to sleep
And your spirit
giving me a safe haven
Protecting me
and nurturing me
Preparing me of things to come.

 Sometimes
the journey of life
pulls souls apart.
And yes,
I had to go on
to another place.
I wish
I could have stayed
I wish
this was a decision
I could have made
And I know you do too.

 Know this wherever you are:
I will always remember that
yours was the first love,
The first joy,
the first soul
I ever knew.
You gave me the courage to
go on in my journey
I hope I can do
the same for you.
Your heart
will always call me to you.

 Love,
Your Child

Mom, you have to let me go,
Because it was meant to be.
And just because you let me go,
Doesn't mean you'll ever lose me.

You hold my hand and stroke my cheek,
As your heart is breaking in two.
And my spirit is still right there, you see,
I'll always be there within you.

I see your tears and I feel your pain,
And I know you just want to die.
But it's not your time to come here yet,
And right now I can't tell you why.

There's more you have to do there,
More lives and hearts you must touch.
There's other's there around you,
Who still need and love you so much.

So please don't feel like you've lost me,
For you haven't, I'm still by your side.
Now I'm holding YOUR hand and stroking YOUR cheek,
So you'll want to live and not die.

Oh Mom, I want you to live now,
And I need you to let my body go.
The part of me you love so much,
Is now in the breeze as it blows.

When you're in the kitchen 'cooking',
Or simply just combing your hair.
When the light in the room just flickers a bit,
Know it is me, and I'm there.

When I was hurting and I was in pain,
You were there with your comfort and love.
Now let me do the same for you,
Let me give you those things, from above.

I'm walking and smiling, and happy,
And I want you to know this is true.
I'm with you and around you still,
And I'll be here to help you get through.

Close your eyes and you'll hear me talking,
Open your heart and you'll then feel me there.
It's not a 'trick' or just 'your mind',
It's "me" that you feel on the air.

So it's okay to let me go, Mom,
I'm not in my body, you see.
Cause I'm in your heart and in the air,
And I promise You'll never lose me.
