Minette's Page

Without pedigree, born under a neighbor's doorstep, her parents long forgotten,
Minette has been a member of my family for almost fourteen years now. She bears the colors of the New
Orleans Saints - black, gold and white. Minette likes to be near me. When I sleep, she
sleeps at my side, one paw stretched out to touch me. When company comes, she's right
there, getting acquainted with my guests, listening to what they have to say. She smiles
and purrs when I put a Bach recording in the CD player. When I work at the computer, she
naps on my computer desk, reaching out every now and then to bat my computer mouse with
her paw. She fears nothing except the sound of plastic bags and spray cans.
I like to talk
to her while I work,
and every now and then I reach out and rub her under her chin;
in return, she gives me unconditional love.

The Plaint of the Calico Cat
by Paul Gallico
If you can put together
Flowers of any color,
Pink with red,
Red with orange,
Orange with brown,
Brown with black,
Black with yellow,
Yellow with white
And people think they are beautiful,
Why should I who am some of all these colors
Be considered ugly?
